Racetracks of Ontario

If you like driving on race tracks, Ontario is a great place to be, because there are lots of facilities where you can put your foot down, and not worry about getting a speeding ticket.

There are small ovals such as Sunset Speedway in Innisfil, and Delaware Speedway in London. There are drag strips in St. Thomas and Cayuga, plus some dirt tracks for some off-road fun!

But, for proper track driving, there are some big tracks, such as Calabogie Speedway – just west of Ottawa, Shannonville Speedway – just east of Belleville, Grand Bend Motorplex near London, and the Canadian Tire Motorsports Park (formerly known as Mosport International Raceway) in Bowmanville – which actually has a go-kart track, a driver development track for car and bike riders, and the big grand prix track that hosted the first Formula 1 race in Canada.

However, one of the safest and fastest tracks in Ontario is found in Cayuga, and its called the Toronto Motorsports park. TMP might be very popular for drag racers, because of its smooth quarter-mile tarmac, but it also has a wonderful 3 km road course that can help develop driver skills; but if you make a mistake, there are very few places you can write-off a car – although, lack of talent can always prove this theory wrong.

Toronto Motorsports park track is especially good for testing supercars, as it allows for big numbers for straight line speed, and some high speed corners – with lots of intricate sharp corners thrown into the mix.

So, if you’ve got a Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, Porsche, NSX, Lotus, R8 or any other sports car or supercar, and want to experience their performance to the max, being in the Toronto region will certainly put you in the center for all the action!

And hey, with Christmas and New Years around the corner, a track experience would make for an ideal gift for the car enthusiast in your house hold – for boys and girls!
